Employment & Eats: Labor Day Weekend Edition
/Summer is coming to a close and while it's sad to see it go, we still have Labor Day Weekend to make the most out of. There are a plethora of events going on in and around NYC including several music festivals, the US Open, the beach and of course Labor Day BBQs.
The nice thing about long holiday weekends like LDW is that the city is virtually empty and the inhabitants who choose to "staycation" have it all to themselves. There's plenty to do so for our second installment of our ongoing series "Employment & Eats" we put together a list of a few fantastic places to find good eats or employment.
1. Rustic Tavern - 471 Dekalb Ave. Brooklyn NYC
Whether you're searching for libations, live music or a sweet brunch, Rustic Tavern is a good bet. For $30 you get a "boozy brunch" which is a surefire way to set the holiday weekend off right. The have an outdoor patio and incase you were wondering, they're looking for servers & bartenders.
2. Franny's - 348 Flatbush Ave Brooklyn
This beloved neighborhood spot recently reopened after moving down the block and getting a make over. The restaurant now seats twice as many as before and there is a lounge downstairs which can be reserved for private events. If Italian cusine is your thing, Franny's is definitely a place to check out and they are currently hiring. Click here to check out what positions are open.
3. The Jane - 100 West Houston Street NYC
#TeamHarri recently checked out the brunch here and it was phenomenal. Must haves include the the Breakfast Corndogs and Ladyfingers Tiramisu. It does get crowded so it's best to make reservations in advance. There are several employment opportunities available at the Jane, including some open calls. Find out more here.
4. The Smith - Multiple locations: East Village, Lincoln Center & Midtown
The Smith boasts a full brunch and cocktail menu. Items on their menu also come with a free drink that will either help your hangover from the night before or be the beginning of another day drinking session usually associated with Labor Day Weekend. Fresh squeezed juices, house made sodas and even oysters are available to order. You can always opt out of brunch and grab a juicy burger, after all it is Labor Day Weekend.

5. The Meatball Shop - Multiple Locations
Meatballs are a comfort food usually associated cold weather months, but when they are this good you don't care. Treat yourself to the Naked balls, one of their signature hero sandwiches or if you're not in the mood for that, you can always opt for a salad. Whatever you do, don't forget to finish off your meal with one of their infamous ice cream sandwiches. You'll be glad you did.
